Antisocial behaviour
02/07/2018
Public Spaces Protection Orders have been implemented in two areas after Surrey Police received repeated reports of antisocial behaviour.
The first order covers Addlestone town centre, the second Hazel Close, Elmbank Avenue, Ilex Close, Holly Close, Blays Lane and Swallowfield in Englefield Green.
As part of the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, a PSPO allows local authorities to deal with nuisances or problems in a defined area considered to be detrimental to a community's quality of life.
The PSPO enables Runnymede Borough Council to impose restrictions in a particular area with the aim of stopping individuals, or groups, committing antisocial behaviour in public spaces.
The PSPO will be in place for a period of three years from the commencement date.
Objections against the orders must be lodged before 16 July. Challenges must be made to the High Court within six weeks of the Order being made, and by an individual who lives in, regularly works in or visits the restricted area.
